Feds Could Get Punished For Political Weaponization Of Their JobsĀ

(FreedomBeacon.com)- In a recent interview, House Judiciary Committee chair Jim Jordan said Republicans in Congress should introduce legislation holding federal agencies accountable if they target American citizens for exercising their First Amendment rights.Ā

While appearing on ā€œJust the News, No Noise,ā€ last Wednesday, Jordan said steps must be taken to ensure such targeting cannot happen again. He said Congress should use the ā€œpower of the purseā€ to ensure no federal money goes to targeting parents or pro-life advocates.Ā

Jordan added that the first thing Congress should do is ā€œget the facts on the tableā€ so the American people have ā€œall the truth.ā€ Once that has been done, the next step would be to propose and pass legislation to ā€œremedy the situation,ā€ Jordan added.Ā

The Washington Examiner reported that the Judiciary Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government found that the Biden Administration and Attorney General Merrick Garland ā€œcolludedā€ with the National School Boards Association to silence critics of Democrat education policies before the Virginia Governor’s race in 2021.Ā

In the subcommittee’s new interim report on Attorney General Garland’s October 2021 directive on parents protesting at school board meetings, chairman Jordan concluded that the Biden administration’s objective appears to have been ā€œsilencing the critics of its radical education policiesā€ while also ā€œneutralizing an issueā€ that threatened the Democrat Party’s chances in the 2021 gubernatorial race in Virginia.Ā

According to the report released last Tuesday, disclosures from a whistleblower along with the report commissioned by the National School Boards Association ā€œshed new lightā€ on the collusion between the Biden administration and the association to ā€œcreate a justificationā€ to target parents using ā€œfederal law enforcement and counterterrorism.ā€Ā

Based on DOJ, FBI, and Education Department documents subpoenaed by the committee in February, it appears the Biden administration ā€œmisused federal law enforcement and counterterrorism resources for political purposes,ā€ according to the report.Ā Ā

The report also found that the Justice Department coordinated with the National School Boards Association before Garland’s October 2021 directive was released.Ā
