The U.S. government held ceremonies to remember the 2,977 victims of the 9/11 attacks on the 22nd anniversary of the tragedy. However, long-debunked reports have re-emerged on social media that a missile was responsible for the damage to the Pentagon.
There is surveillance video from the Pentagon showing the impact of Flight 77 from American Airlines in 2006 after a conservative watchdog organization, Judicial Watch, fought for its release.
According to the 9/11 Commission Report, hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. All 64 passengers on board the aircraft perished, along with 125 victims inside the Pentagon, in the terrorist assault. The FBI also released photos of the jet wreckage.
The ‘no plane’ hypothesis is supported by conspiracy theorists who point to the lack of aircraft debris at the accident site. Photos and videos shot at the location show plenty of aircraft wreckage. Dozens of witnesses claim to have seen an American Airlines jet turning before slamming into the side of The Pentagon.
First responders testified to seeing plane parts as well as human remains.
Truthers argue that the hole blasted into the outer E-Ring of The Pentagon’s reinforced concrete walls was too small, making it impossible for a commercial jetliner to have caused it. The hole was 75 feet in diameter, large enough to have been Flight 77.
The world’s most advanced military should be able to stop a hijacked jet before it reaches its destination, so why didn’t they? Believers in a government-led conspiracy point to this as proof that NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) ordered the United States military to stand down during the 9/11 attacks.
No one knew for sure what was happening that day, and there were no protocols in place for such an occurrence.
The exhaustive communication between air traffic controllers and military personnel tracking Flight 77 would mean that hundreds of people were in on the hoax.
There are also recordings of passengers talking to loved ones on the ill-fated flight, which would mean they were all in on the hoax.
Truthers are unthinking, insensitive, and, in their way, psychological terrorists.
