Child Drowns After Getting Sucked Into Pool Pipe

The little girl whose untimely demise was caused by being dragged down a small pool drain at a Houston hotel chain has finally been named.

On Saturday, 8-year-old Aliyah Jaico and her family swam at the DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow on the northwest side of the city. At 9:45 p.m., she was reported missing.

According to rescue workers, the girl reportedly dove beneath the water and had not been seen since. Finding her corpse jammed in a tiny conduit took place hours after that.

According to the results from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science, the girl drowned as the result of an unintentional occurrence.

With the description “our last photo,” Aliyah’s mother, Daniela Jaico, posted a touching snapshot she took at the pool to Facebook.’

She said in a public letter to her deceased daughter that she is grateful for the eight years they were able to spend together.

The pool at the hotel was described as having a “lazy river style,” according to the Houston police.

Investigating a possible abduction, a nonprofit group painstakingly examined surveillance footage. Aliyah was discovered to have disappeared under the water, never to have surfaced.

At around 11:30 p.m., rescuers made a horrific discovery using a scent-tracing bloodhound and a camera.

After draining the pool, a small video camera attached to a pole was plunged almost 20 feet into the pipes. The girl’s hand and a portion of her torso were the first to come to light.

The theory is the pipe suffered a breakdown and was taking in water instead of releasing it.

The search was completed in around thirteen hours.

Pools can be hazardous.

A six-year-old girl named Abigail Taylor was having fun in the public wading pool at the Minneapolis Golf Club in June 2007 when she sat on a drain. Her intestines were pulled from the girl’s body.

Abigail passed away in March of the following year, accompanied by her family, after undergoing significant medical treatment for nine months. This care included several organ transplants, sixteen operations, and other procedures.

Tragically, a 10-year-old girl named Danika Ross was dragged into an irrigation pipe in a man-made pond at a vineyard in Washington state in 2021.

Danika and her brothers were swimming when she was trapped in a pipe that her family claims was too big and lacked a grate, according to their complaint.
