Since the 46th president of the United States Joe Biden entered the oval office in January of 2021, he has presided over a period of nearly unprecedented economic and social chaos and turbulence in both the domestic and international affairs of the nation. Early in his term, Biden promoted several massive spending packages which were crafted and passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives in the legislative branch. Biden happily signed these pieces of legislation into law, and authorized trillions of dollars in new federal spending. What followed was rampant inflation which peaked in the fall of 2022 at levels not witnessed in decades. The American middle class, which has been struggling for decades, has continued to shrink, and wages remain stagnant as the buying power of the dollar declines. Some 60% of Americans are estimated to be living paycheck to paycheck.
While Biden has undoubtedly failed at the domestic level, internationally he has fared even worse. In 2021, he orchestrated a botched American withdrawal from Afghanistan. Millions of dollars of military equipment was lost to the Taliban, and 13 American servicemembers were killed. In October, conflict reignited in the middle east, as the Muslim terrorist group Hamas invaded Israel and murdered over 1,000 innocent civilians. Israel then invaded Gaza, escalating the conflict. Recently, a terrorist group known as the Houthi-Rebels backed by Iran destroyed an American drone near Yemen. President Biden had recently orchestrated a deal with Iran with gave the nation billions in frozen and seized assets in exchange for imprisoned Americans. The future of the conflict remains unknown as the world teeters closer to major war.
Despite the reality that the state of global affairs remains volatile and continues to deteriorate, many Americans are less concerned about the threat of China economically speaking than before. In a most recent Gallup poll, only 51% of Americans consider China a threat. The future remains quite uncertain.
