Zelensky Arrives In US Ahead Of Decision On Ukraine Aid

(FreedomBeacon.com)- Early Wednesday morning, the Biden administration announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was traveling to the United States to discuss additional aid for his nation in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Zelenskyy will meet with President Biden and address Congress on Wednesday as lawmakers prepare to include additional funding for Ukraine in their most recent $1.7 trillion spending bill. More than $45 billion in new military and humanitarian aid are included in the budget for his nation. Other assistance earlier last month was quietly slipped under the radar.

Zelenskyy’s speech to a joint meeting of Congress will show the “strong, bipartisan support for Ukraine,” according to a press release issued by the Biden administration on Wednesday morning.

According to the statement, “the visit will demonstrate the United States’ unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes, including by providing economic, humanitarian, and military assistance.”

The White House added in its official statement that President Biden has been mobilizing the international community to support Ukraine since the February Russian invasion.

The statement read that three hundred days ago, Russia launched a brutal assault against Ukraine. In response, President Biden rallied the world to support the people of Ukraine as they defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

During the visit, President Biden will announce a significant new package of security assistance to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression.

A statement from Zelenskyy’s office stated that on December 21, he would meet with U.S. President Joseph Biden in Washington, where they will discuss broad cooperation between the two nations, particularly with regard to enhancing Ukraine’s resilience and defense capabilities, supporting its sovereignty, and re-establishing its territorial integrity.

President Biden will meet with Zelenskyy on the South Lawn at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The two will then proceed to a private discussion in the Oval Office. At 4:30 p.m., Zelenskyy will deliver his congressional address.

Sometime during the day, Biden will transfer billions to Ukraine.
