Fans Are Cheering At Johnny Depp’s Latest Comeback

According to a report, a year after Johnny Depp’s high-profile legal fight against his ex-wife Amber Heard, his attorney Camille Vasquez expressed her delight for his professional resurgence.

After his French-language film Jeanne du Barry opened the renowned Cannes Film Festival last month, Hollywood actor Johnny Depp seemed teary-eyed as he got a long-standing ovation. The film is Depp’s first in a while, and he plays King Louis XV.

This was in sharp contrast to the same time last year, while a jury in Virginia was deliberating over Depp and Heard’s televised court fight. After Heard wrote an op-ed on her experience as a domestic violence victim in 2018, Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against her.

The report explains how Depp’s attorneys said it was clear that Heard was making reference to their client, even though she did not identify Depp by name in the piece. She countersued, claiming that Depp’s lawyer, Adam Waldman, defamed her. She asked for 100 million dollars.

Camille Vasquez said she and the rest of the team were only days away from meeting up with Depp. The planned get-together was supposed to happen on May 31 in Boston, amid Depp’s Hollywood Vampires tour stop. However, those preparations had to be put on hold when Depp canceled his stage performances on the advice of his doctor after an ankle ailment.

In the defamation lawsuit between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, Depp was paid over $10 million, and Heard was granted $2 million.

Reports show the Virginia jury awarded Depp $10 million in damages, $5 million in punitive damages, and $10.35 million in total damages.

Johnny Depp’s lawyers issued a statement saying their client would give the settlement to charity. His legal team has consistently said in the past that Depp never cared about the money in this case.

Amber Heard said in her statement that she lost confidence in the legal process.
