Ben Shapiro Says Dems Are Guarding The Deep State

(FreedomBeacon.com)- Democrats are guarding the deep state despite their history of advocating for oversight, according to The Daily Wire. Ben Shapiro reportedly called attention to the Democrats’ 180 turn away from supporting probes into federal agencies that abused their power to silence and spy on Americans.

The new GOP-led House passed a resolution last week to form a Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government led by Rep. Jim Jordan. Jordan, who also chairs the Judiciary Committee, will lead the probe into how the Biden administration and its federal agencies colluded with big tech platforms to censor Americans’ First Amendment rights.

The subcommittee has led to Democratic and media backlash, which Shapiro reportedly found to be odd given the party’s track record of dealing with federal agencies.

“Go back to the 1960s or go back to the 1930s, and you’ll recall that the Democratic Party and the media had been very upset with the idea that the federal government should have the power to reach into people’s lives,” he said, noting that Democrats blamed the intelligence community of leading the country into wars over oil.

But Shapiro also noted that Democrats now hold power in these institutions and don’t want to give that power up to oppositional oversight. Some examples of government collusion with law enforcement include the FBI working on Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential campaign to pinpoint ties between Trump and Russia.

In 2021, after parents erupted in anger at public schools for allowing explicit reading material in libraries, Attorney General Merrick Garland, who leads the Justice Department, issued a memo suggesting parents were a threat to school board members.

Rep. Adam Schiff, who led several failed and inaccurate efforts against the former president, called the creation of the subcommittee was about “deep state nonsense.” He reportedly called concerns that federal agencies have become weaponized without merit.
