Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on Sunday that he would no longer seek a cage fight with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
On his Threads page, Zuckerberg said that he didn’t take Elon seriously and that it was best to move on. Elon has changed his narrative many times, claiming he needs an operation and now wants to practice in Zuckerberg’s backyard instead.
It was anticipated that this measure would stop the massive battle preparations.
The Colosseum in Italy had been mentioned as a potential venue for the battle between the billionaires. Musk said the money would be given to military veteran organizations.
Instead of a physical fight, it devolved into a series of tweets and a lot of trolling.
How did the Musk and Zuckerberg feud start?
According to a report, Zuckerberg’s $200 million satellite crashed in a pre-launch test mishap on one of Musk’s SpaceX rockets in September 2016, sparking animosity between the two billionaires.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg later expressed disappointment that SpaceX’s launch failure damaged the satellite.
Musk said that SpaceX had provided Facebook with a complimentary launch to make up for it after the explosion.
About a year later, during a public Facebook Live video, Zuckerberg made a not-so-subtle criticism of Musk by slamming reckless AI “naysayers” who try to build up apocalyptic scenarios.
Musk is well-known for his pessimistic outlook on AI, stating on many occasions that it has the potential to destroy civilization.
