(FreedomBeacon.com)- President Joe Biden is finally receiving criticism from the media and the Democrats, and rightly so. After the president left untold thousands of Americans stranded in Afghanistan, while the Taliban took control of millions of dollars of American military equipment, the press laid into the president for botching the long-awaited U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and for putting Americans in danger.
And after a week of refusing to take questions, the president has finally committed to maintaining U.S. troops in Afghanistan until every single American who wants to leave the country has been evacuated.
He should have done this before he withdrew troops…like former President Donald Trump said he should do.
Speaking to George Stephanopoulos in his only interview since the disaster unfolded, Biden said that if there are any American citizens left, U.S. troops are “going to stay until we get them all out.”

The statement was disingenuous, of course, because it’s not a matter of “if” there are American citizens left. There are American citizens left, and potentially tens of thousands of them.
This week, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki refused to give journalists a specific number of American citizens they believe to be stranded in the country – but the president previously estimated that there are between 50,000 and 65,000 allies stuck in Afghanistan, including American citizens, non-American allies, and their family members.
There have also been disturbing stories of Americans confirming that they were attacked by Taliban soldiers while trying to access the airport and U.S. air bases surrounding Afghanistan, where commercial flights have been ordered to fly.
Last Wednesday, the U.S. Embassy in Kabul confirmed that they cannot guarantee safe passage of Americans to Kabul airport, and there is no clear plan for the U.S. military to save every single American citizen in the country. Meanwhile, British soldiers are crossing Taliban lives to save British citizens who were left abandoned in the country after Biden failed to give our European allies a heads-up before his swift and badly-managed withdrawal.
