(FreedomBeacon.com)- The Washington post, NBC News, and the New York Times all issued major retractions on Saturday – and they were so bad that even CNN braggingly reported it.
You know you’ve messed up when even CNN calls you out.
The left-wing news outlets had wrongly claimed earlier that day that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had been warned by the FBI that he was a target of a disinformation campaign from the Russian government. The egregious and false claim came after the former Mayor and personal attorney to President Donald Trump had his apartment raided and searched by the FBI on Thursday last week.
Reports detailed how the FBI was looking for evidence relating to Giuliani’s business deals in Ukraine. The raid resulted in a number of phones, tablets, and computers being seized by the agents.
The Washington Post issued a statement explaining, “An earlier version of this story, published Thursday, incorrectly reported that One America News was warned by the FBI that it was the target of a Russian influence operation.”
“That version also said the FBI had provided a similar warning to Rudolph W. Giuliani, which he has since disputed…This version has been corrected to remove assertions that OAN and Giuliani received the warnings,” the correction continued.
The Times issued a similar retraction, admitting, “Mr. Giuliani did not receive such a so-called defensive briefing.”
NBC tried to minimize the damage by blaming its sources, saying that their fake story was “based on a source familiar with the matter” but that a second source “now says the briefing was only prepared for Giuliani and not delivered to him.”
Far-left media pundits and outlets have long tried to portray Giuliani as some kind of Russian asset, or as having had inappropriate contact with Ukrainian businesses during the Trump presidency – but so far, none of those smears have worked out so well.
