Voters Miss Trump’s Policies, Say Country on Wrong Track Under Biden

( According to a recent Wall Street Journal poll, more voters would like the United States to return to the policies of former President Donald Trump than continue under the policies of Joe Biden.

The poll, conducted between November 16 and November 22, asked respondents whether they prefer continuing to pursue Joe Biden’s policies or returning to Trump’s policies. Forty-eight percent of respondents wanted to return to Trump’s policies while 46 percent wanted Biden’s policies to continue.

When asked if they believe that the US economy is going in the right direction or wrong direction, a staggering 61 percent said it was heading in the wrong direction.

The poll also measured the favorability rating of both President Biden and former President Trump. Fifty-four percent of respondents had an unfavorable view of both Biden and Trump. The poll found 43 percent of respondents viewed Joe Biden favorably while 41 percent had a favorable view of former President Trump.

So while respondents want to have Trump’s policies back, they don’t seem overly eager about having Donald Trump himself.

Respondents were also asked whether they approve or disapprove of Biden and Trump’s job performance as president. Fifty-seven percent either somewhat or strongly disapproved of the job Biden has done as President, while 50 percent disapproved of the job Trump did.

The poll was fairly equally divided between Democrats and Republicans, which is unusual for most opinion polls that tend to over-survey Democrat voters. Forty-two percent of respondents identified as Democrat or Democrat-leaning while 40 percent said they were Republican or Republican-leaning. Another 15 percent identified as Independent or something else, while 3 percent said they didn’t know.

Broken down by ideology, 26 percent of respondents described themselves as liberal or very liberal, 30 percent described themselves as moderate, 40 percent said conservative or very conservative, and 4 percent either didn’t know or refused to answer.

And while Americans overwhelmingly believe the country is going in the wrong direction, it probably isn’t entirely because of Joe Biden. Congressional Democrats no doubt share some of the blame. That would explain why the latest Rasmussen 2022 Generic Congressional Vote polling from Thursday has Republicans nine points up over Democrats – 48 percent to 39 percent.
