Trump’s Call for Non-Intervention
Former President Donald Trump has urged the United States to stay out of the escalating Syrian civil war – but President Joe Biden has already announced that the United States will be supporting the rebels militarily.
As rebel forces make unprecedented advances and close in on Damascus, Trump’s isolationist stance is gaining traction, reshaping America’s approach to Middle Eastern conflicts.
Trump’s position is clear and unequivocal.
Trump stated, “Syria is a mess, but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT PLAY OUT. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!”
This declaration aligns with his long-standing isolationist approach to foreign policy, which he has consistently advocated throughout his political career.
Rapid Advances by Rebel Forces
The situation in Syria has reached a critical point. Rebel forces have made significant gains, capturing major cities including Aleppo and Hama, and are now advancing towards Damascus. This unprecedented offensive has put Assad’s regime on the brink of collapse, with reports suggesting that Assad has evacuated his family to Russia.
And over the weekend, President Assad announced that he was resigning from his position and has since fled the country.
Trump highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, “Opposition fighters in Syria, in an unprecedented move, have totally taken over numerous cities, in a highly coordinated offensive, and are now on the outskirts of Damascus, obviously preparing to make a very big move toward taking out Assad.”
Let’s hope that President Joe Biden doesn’t get the U.S. embroiled in yet another war right before leaving office…
