Trump Announces New Leadership at NARA

In a move designed to improve the leadership and transparency of the National Archives and Records Administration, President Donald Trump has appointed Jim Byron as a Senior Adviser. Byron, who currently serves as the President and CEO of the Richard Nixon Foundation, will take on a crucial role in managing the agency’s operations.

The appointment comes in the wake of significant changes at NARA, including the resignation of Acting Head William Bosanko and several senior staff members. These departures have paved the way for a restructuring of the agency under the Trump administration.

President Trump expressed confidence in Byron’s abilities, citing his extensive experience with the National Archives.

“Jim has worked with the National Archives for many years, and understands the great responsibility and duty we have to preserve the History of our Great Country,” President Trump said.

“Jim will manage the National Archives on a day-to-day basis, while we continue our search for a full-time Archivist,” the President added.

Byron’s appointment is seen as a strategic move, given his background with the Richard Nixon Foundation and his familiarity with archive-related matters. His experience is expected to be valuable in overseeing NARA’s critical responsibilities, which include managing the country’s founding documents, presidential libraries, and the certification of constitutional amendments.

The recent changes at NARA have not been without controversy. As you expect with Trump!

The dismissal of former Archivist Colleen Shogan, the first woman to lead NARA, raised eyebrows in some quarters (Democrat ones). Critics have claimed that Trump did not follow federal law requiring him to communicate the reasons for Shogan’s removal to Congress.

Furthermore, the Trump administration’s attempt to appoint Secretary of State Marco Rubio as Acting Archivist, bypassing the Deputy Archivist’s automatic succession, has been a subject of debate.

Trump is getting things done and Democrats can’t stop him.
