Special Counsel Rebuts President’s Claims
In a scathing report released Monday, Special Counsel David Weiss criticized President Joe Biden for making what he called “baseless accusations” about the investigation into his son, Hunter Biden. Weiss, who successfully prosecuted Hunter on tax fraud and gun charges, defended the integrity of the investigative process and rebuked the president’s characterization of the case.
Even his own people know he’s corrupt.
Weiss’s report served as a defense of his work and a rebuttal to the president’s statements, which he deemed “gratuitous and wrong.” The special counsel maintained that his decisions were free from political influence and defended the charges brought against Hunter Biden.
“The president’s characterizations are incorrect based on the facts in this case, and on a more fundamental level, they are wrong,” David C. Weiss said.
Hunter Biden’s Convictions and Presidential Pardon
Hunter Biden was found guilty of three felony counts for lying on a federal firearms application and pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges. The convictions spanned a period when he was addicted to crack cocaine and after he became sober. President Biden pardoned his son, attributing the prosecution to “raw politics” and calling it a “miscarriage of justice.”
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong,” the president said.
You hear that? You’re not reasonable for disliking corruption.
Weiss strongly disagreed with this assessment, arguing that questioning the rulings undermines the fairness and equity of the American justice system. He noted that eight judges across various courts rejected claims of selective or vindictive prosecution motives.
Political Fallout and Republican Scrutiny
The release of Weiss’s report has sparked a political firestorm, notably among Republicans. House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer criticized the report as incomplete and accused the Biden administration of corruption.
“Let’s be clear: the Biden DOJ was never going to prosecute the Biden Crime Family,” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky. said.
Too right.
Republicans have pointed to unexamined allegations about Hunter’s potential Foreign Agents Registration Act violations and his financial gains linked to his last name and connections, securing business opportunities in Ukraine and China. A report from Comer’s committee accused President Biden of “impeachable offenses” related to influence peddling and financial gains from foreign entities.
Look at this mess of a legacy President Biden is leaving behind.
