(FreedomBeacon.com)- Senate Republicans were targeted by a smear campaign by the left-wing press and social media outlets this week when they blocked a debate extremist legislation put forward by Congressional Democrats. The so-called “For the People Act” would make permanent the temporary measures put in place to make it easier for p[eople to vote during the pandemic, and would also force states to implement mass mail-in voting.
Republicans oppose the legislation as it would make voter fraud easier, but that didn’t stop the media outlets wrongly claiming that the GOP stood in the way of a “voting rights” bill.
Since when is it a “right” to cast illegal votes?
The far-left New York Times wrongly claimed that Republicans blocked the “Voting Rights Bill,” and USA Today said “Republicans crush voting rights.”
Are there any real journalists left, or are they all political activists now?
The Democrat-pushed bill didn’t advance on a 50-50 party-line vote. Democrats needed 60 votes to overcome the filibuster.
Interestingly, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin decided last minute to vote with his party, giving far-left Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer the illusion of unity within his party.
It is not clear what made Manchin decide to vote with his party. Manchin has been under a huge amount of pressure from Democrats recently to side with them on extremist legislature like this, but he has repeatedly pushed back and expressed his belief in making Senate Democrats and Republicans reach out to the other side to reach bipartisan agreements.
Schumer claimed the issue was a “fight for voting rights,” when voting rights are already legally established in the United States and Republicans do not oppose them.
Senate GOP minority leader Mitch McConnell said that the bill is not about voting rights, but about advancing “long-standing ideas” from the Democrats designed to reshape election laws in a way that benefits them.
If the Democrats end the filibuster, this dangerous new legislation could become a terrifying reality for America…
