Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served as a Communication Director in Trump’s White House, slammed the former president for “growing darker” after anticipating his looming defeat in the 2024 presidential elections.
Scaramucci stated that Trump has already started realizing that he stands no chance in the presidential race, which is urging him to show his dark side to Americans.
The former Trump aide, who became his severe critic after being fired by the former president, also stated that Trump will have “rough” days until the elections.
Scaramucci’s comments came at a time when Trump has started to increasingly focus on personal attacks against his Democratic rival Kamala Harris, something other Republicans have also criticized.
GOP stakeholders are advising the former president to instead focus more on policy issues to attract moderate voters, without whom winning the White House will only remain a pipe dream.
According to Trump’s former counselor, Kellyanne Conway, Trump has to follow a simple formula of focusing more on policy insights while not over-focusing on personal insults.
Recently, Trump noted that he was “entitled” to attack Harris as she mobilized the US justice system against him and pushed the country in difficult times.
The former president went on to say that he “do(es) not have a lot of respect” for his rival and that she would become a “terrible president” if she managed to clinch the White House. Furthermore, Trump argued that Harris also called him “weird” and continued to attack him personally.
Despite mounting pressure from the GOP insiders, Trump is still willing to take a combative approach as he called himself “better looking” than Harris in his latest round of personal attack against the vice president during a rally in Pennsylvania.
Reportedly, Trump’s aggressive approach is not sitting well with voters as he continues to damage his reputation among the masses. When Biden was still the Democratic nominee, Trump was leading against him, but Harris’s rise to the top of the Democratic presidential ticket only increased Trump’s worries as the vice president has managed to lead most polls in recent times.
Latest polls by the Hill show Harris leading the former president by a 1.8% margin as the vice president is reportedly backed by 49% of voters, while 47.2% of them support Trump.
Meanwhile, the New York Times polls suggest that Harris is leading against Trump by 4% points in three critical battleground states, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, that can decide the tilt of the presidential race in her favor.
