(FreedomBeacon.com)- Controversial House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to force her part to commit to supporting Israel – the only instance of the ultra-partisan politician standing up to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and The Squad.
During her recent tour of Europe, Pelosi stopped off for a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid last Tuesday. She described the meeting as a “privilege” and said that they discussed the United States-Israel bond.
Pelosi added that the bond is “based on our mutual security, mutual values, and is again something that is a source of pride to all of us in the Congress who work on this.”
Yeah, she can’t say it’s a source of pride for the whole of Congress given that such a huge number of people in her own party wrongly claim that Israel is an apartheid state.
She added that support for Israel has long been a bipartisan issue and “continues to be so.”
Um. Really?
She also said that when her father, Rep. Thomas D’Alesandro Jr. of Maryland, was in Congress, he influenced President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to throw his support behind the establishment of the Jewish State, adding that for many people in Congress support for Israel is in their DNA.
Lapid called Pelosi a “great friend of Israel” and encouraged Congress to unite around the idea of deepening the “circle of peace.” He also insisted on Congress uniting around the idea that Israel has a right to defend itself – presumably a dig at AOC and her ilk, who have been widely accused of anti-Semitism.
AOC, for instance, cried when Congress passed a bill to support the funding of the Iron Dome missile defense system which protects innocent Israelis from rockets fired by Islamic terrorists in Gaza. What does that tell you?
Nancy Pelosi sure is getting around lately. Shouldn’t President Joe Biden be doing these meetings? Or Vice President Kamala Harris?
