(FreedomBeacon.com)- Ever since left-wing and right-wing rioters (and a CNN journalist) entered the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., on January 6, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been pushing for a 9/11-style commission to investigate the riot…presumably in the hope of concocting a story and collecting “evidence” that President Donald Trump incited a violent insurrection.
We say “presumably” because that’s exactly the accusation she and other Democrats leveled at former President Donald Trump in their second failed impeachment hearings.
This week, Pelosi may have made progress, with top Democrat and Republican members of the House Homeland Security Committee reaching an agreement to establish the commission and investigate the origins of the riot.
It will take the form of a new bill that is focused entirely on the January 6 riot, and not on other instance of political violence – a provision that other Republicans have requested be included in the commission. It’s an incredible concession from the Republicans given just how widespread the left-wing violence was throughout 2020, and how Vice President Kamala Harris – then a senate for California – even encouraged people to donate to a bail fund for people arrested during the riots.
While reports suggest that an agreement has been made, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said On Friday that he has not confirmed that he will support the bill, nor has he “read through it.”
The Hill reported that the bill would give Democrats and Republicans an equal number of representatives on the commission to engage in negotiations and discussion, something that House Speaker Pelosi previously thought wasn’t necessary.
In a statement On Friday, Pelosi said it is “imperative that we seek the truth of what happened n January 6 with an independent, bipartisan 9/11-type Commission to examine and report upon the facts, causes and security relating to the terrorist mob attack.”
Since when has Nancy Pelosi ever cared about the truth?
We’ll see if Kevin McCarthy falls for her tricks in the coming days.
