Another ethics complaint has been filed against New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, this time accusing her of defaming Libs of TikTok creator Chaya Raichik during a March hearing of the House Oversight Committee, the Washington Examiner reported.
The complaint, filed by the Heritage Foundation, is asking the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate Ocasio-Cortez for “falsely accusing” Raichik of spreading “false information” about Boston Children’s Hospital.
During the House Oversight Committee’s hearing on Twitter’s suppression of the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story, Ocasio-Cortez asked Twitter’s former Trust and Safety head, Yoel Roth, if he was aware that Libs of TikTok posted “false information” that Boston Children’s Hospital was providing hysterectomies to minors.
In its complaint, the Heritage Foundation cites evidence from the Boston Children’s Hospital website showing that the hospital offered “gender affirmation surgery” to adolescents “who are ready to take this step in their journey.”
Heritage also included a study from the Journal of Clinical Medicine which found that the hospital performed 65 double-mastectomies on underage girls in three years.
The conservative group argued that Ocasio-Cortez’s claim that Libs of TikTok’s tweet included false information is “outrightly false on its face.”
In the complaint, Heritage notes that if Ocasio-Cortez watched the video before asking Roth the question, she would have known “at a minimum” that Raichik’s comments in the tweet were supported by the accompanying video, in which Boston Children’s Hospital touted its “gender-affirming hysterectomies.”
Heritage accuses Ocasio-Cortez of “knowingly” making the allegation “in bad faith.”
The complaint also calls out Ocasio-Cortez for blaming Raichik for “threats and harassment” faced by Boston Children’s Hospital staff and accusing her of inciting violence against the LGBT community.
If the Office of Congressional Ethics determines that Ocasio-Cortez defamed Raichik, Heritage is asking that the congresswoman receive a reprimand and that her dishonest statements be stricken from the congressional record. The group is also asking that Ocasio-Cortez be encouraged to either apologize or make a public clarification of her comments.
