Biden’s Border Crisis: A Surge Beyond Control

The Biden administration is grappling with an unprecedented immigration crisis as over 3 million individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela (CHNV) have illegally crossed the U.S. border. This alarming surge, part of a larger influx of over 14 million illegal border crossers since Biden took office, has raised serious concerns about national security, economic strain, and the administration’s ability to enforce immigration laws.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection data reveals a staggering 2,496,080 illegal border crossers from CHNV countries during fiscal years 2021-2024. When including the 531,000 released through the CHNV parole program, the total rises to at least 3,027,080 from these four countries alone. This figure excludes those who evaded capture, were released through other programs, or were repatriated, suggesting the actual number could be significantly higher.

Mayorkas’ Controversial Parole Program: Legal Battle Ensues

At the heart of this crisis lies a contentious parole program spearheaded by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. While Mayorkas argues that the CHNV and other parole programs are legal, federal judges have ruled otherwise. This legal battle has become a flashpoint, with Republican members of Congress citing these programs as grounds for Mayorkas’ impeachment.

Republican U.S. senators rightly noted that the situation will “endanger our national security.”

The concern isn’t just about numbers. Cuba and Nicaragua are designated as Countries of Particular Concern for religious freedom violations, with Cuba also labeled a State Sponsor of Terrorism. The U.S. State Department cites these countries for “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom” and practices including “torture, prolonged detention without charges, forced disappearance, or other flagrant denial of life, liberty, or security of persons.”

Breaking Down the Numbers: A Crisis by Country

The surge from each CHNV country presents its own set of challenges.

Cuban illegal border crossers under the Biden administration total over 786,000, the highest in U.S. history. Nearly 700,000 Haitian illegal border crossers have been reported, with local communities facing increased crime and costs.

Over 536,000 Nicaraguan illegal border crossers have entered, with policies seemingly facilitating weaponized migration. Perhaps most alarmingly, nearly one million Venezuelan illegal border crossers have been reported, including members of the notorious Tren De Aragua gang.

The Scale of the Crisis: A Nation Within a Nation

To put this crisis into perspective, the combined total of over 3 million illegal border crossers from CHNV countries exceeds the populations of 17 U.S. states and is equivalent to more than 67 U.S. Army Corps. This influx is not just a statistic; it represents a massive strain on resources, potential security risks, and a fundamental challenge to the rule of law.

As the Biden administration continues to grapple with this unprecedented surge, the American people are left to bear the brunt of its consequences. From increased crime in local communities to the potential national security threats posed by individuals from countries hostile to U.S. interests, the impacts of this crisis are far-reaching and severe.
