Mike Huckabee Endorses Trump For 2024

(FreedomBeacon.com)- Mike Huckabee, who is a TV host now but is also a former Republican politician, said recently that he was giving a strong endorsement to former President Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

In making that announcement, Huckabee said Trump has done more for the United States than any single president has in the last 70 years.

Huckabee served as Arkansas’ governor between 1996 and 2007. He then ran for president himself in 2008, and then again in 2016. That year, he ultimately dropped out of the race and officially endorsed Trump.

After he left political life, Huckabee hosted a show on Fox News. Since then, he’s remained in the public light, serving as a popular conservative commentator about culture and politics in America.

His daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is the current governor of Arkansas. She also served in the Trump administration at one point in time.

What’s more, Sanders has been mentioned in passing as a potential running mate for Trump in the 2024 election. It’s not altogether surprising, considering her family has long supported Trump in his political career.

Huckabee is a proud and unabashed Christian who once served as a pastor. As such, he’s received a lot of criticism from people for continuing to support Trump.

But, earlier this week, Huckabee explained in more detail why he’s still backing Trump as he’s already working toward the GOP nomination for 2024. On one of his recent shows on TBN this week, Huckabee gave an opening monologue, during which he said:

“I endorsed, supported and campaigned for Donald Trump. As president, he exceeded my expectations in implementing the ‘America First’ policies, and they were long overdue, to truly make America great again.”

Huckabee acknowledged that the former president was, indeed, rough around the edges a bit. And the former Arkansas governor even admitted that some of his supporters don’t understand why he continues to support Trump.

As Huckabee said:

“I surprised most of my friends and even some of my enemies in supporting Donald Trump. He often said things that were cringeworthy. And some of the labels he affixed to political opponents and the media were harsh – if not accurate and incredibly funny. OK, I didn’t like all of his tweets or his comments from the podium.”

In explaining his decision to continue supporting Trump, Huckabee compared it to choosing a surgeon. He explained:

“When people ask, how could I support him, I say, well, it’s like choosing a doctor to do surgery on a member of my family. If my choice was between a kind, loving, praying surgeon, who had the bedside manner of a pastor but who had never successfully done that particular surgery, or I could pick a surgeon who was gruff, bombastic and impatient, and who had the bedside manner of a schoolyard bully, but he had successfully done that surgery hundreds of times – I’d pick the guy with the questionable personality but the experienced and skillful surgical hands.”
