Freddie Lee Trone was found guilty on a single murder charge in the fatal shooting of well-known rapper PnB Rock by a jury in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
In addition to the star’s murder in 2022, Trone was found guilty on two charges of second-degree robbery and one charge of conspiracy to conduct robbery. The latter reportedly also included Trone’s son, who is a teenager. Reports show that PnB Rock (30) was fatally shot while dining with his girlfriend at a Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles eatery in Los Angeles.
As the celebrity sat with his fiancé at Roscoe’s on Manchester Avenue, the adolescent stormed in and demanded his jewelry before opening fire. PnB Rock was purportedly covered in jewelry worth half a million dollars at the time of his murder. According to Stephanie Sibounheuang, the girlfriend, he protected her by pushing her beneath the table during the gunfire. He and Sibounheuang share a child.
PnB Rock, whose given name is Rakim Allen, was rushed to the hospital and declared dead shortly after.
Investigators said that Trone plotted the murder of PnB Rock by having his teenage son commit robbery and murder inside Roscoe’s restaurant. According to the source, they also claimed that he was the plot’s mastermind and that he doubled as the getaway driver following the murder.
In his testimony claiming that he wasn’t present on the day of the murder, Trone denied any involvement in the robbery and murder. But thirty minutes before the incident, Trone was seen in the restaurant’s parking lot on a surveillance camera. According to Trone’s testimony, he went there to promote his neighboring beauty parlor. He was convicted on two charges of robbery and one count of conspiracy.
The defense claimed that Trone was only a bystander.
The prosecution contended that the minor was carrying out his father’s instructions.
A court determined that Trone’s 19-year-old son was incompetent to stand trial (IST) on charges related to the rapper’s murder. He is currently being held by the juvenile system.
Sentencing for Trone is scheduled for August 27, 2024.
PnB Rock’s 2016 single “Selfish” was the most popular of his songs.
