Lindsey Graham Finally Confronted After Trump Took Him On

(FreedomBeacon.com)- On Sunday, South Carolina Senator Graham appeared on ABC This Week with host George Stephanopoulos who asked the senator, given how things stand, would he support Donald Trump if he ran again in 2024.

Graham said the Republican nomination would be Trump’s “for the taking,” adding that the former president is “the most consequential Republican” in the party today.

But Senator Graham added some words of caution, telling Stephanopoulos that Trump should stop focusing on the 2020 presidential election.

He said if Trump turns his attention to comparing his record as president to that of Joe Biden, he would have a “great chance” of winning back the White House in 2024. But if Trump continues to look backward, Graham explained, it would only hurt his chances should he run again.

Naturally, Stephanopoulos tried to stir up controversy and division by telling Graham that there is no indication that Trump is going to change course. As “proof” of that, the Democrat operative host brought up Trump recently calling Graham a RINO.

Earlier this month, Trump accused Senator Graham of being a RINO after Graham criticized Trump for saying at a recent rally in Texas that if he was elected in 2024, he would pardon everyone involved in the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

During an interview on CBS after Trump’s rally, Graham called the idea “inappropriate” and said he didn’t want “to reinforce” the idea that “defiling the Capitol was okay.”

In response to Graham’s remarks, former President Trump told Newsmax that Graham, while a nice guy, was a RINO.

Graham told Stephanopoulos that Trump’s focus has to be on the future. He said if he wants to win in 2024, he has to talk about solving the problems Biden has created, like the crisis at the border and Biden’s disastrous economic agenda.

Graham said he believes that if Trump talked about what he is capable of doing and reminded voters of what he accomplished in office, “he has a chance to come back.” But if Trump “continues to talk about the 2020 election,” not only would it hurt Trump’s cause, it would hurt the Republican Party as a whole.
