Kim Jong Un Puts Back On Weight In Newly Released Photos

( State media footage shows Kim Jong-Un smoking away on a cigarette and looking like his regular overweight self barely months after slimming down for the country’s sake.
To the delight of adoring fans in Pyongyang, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) broadcast a video of the chunky-again dictator visiting the completion ceremony of a large housing project.
They decided to display footage of him smoking while conversing with his generals during celebrations for the completion of 10,000 housing units, including an 80-story skyscraper, even though there was nothing they could do to hide his expanding belly.
Mr. Kim is seen as a perfect divinity in the walled-off country, which established a strict new rule against smoking in public areas just 18 months ago; thus, the photographs technically represent their beloved leader violating the law.
Apart from the public health issue of smoking, North Korea has been experiencing acute food shortages, pushing Kim to eat less for the country’s benefit, according to government officials.
When photographs and videos of the typically fat ruler appearing emaciated surfaced last December, it sparked suspicion about his health after being absent from public view for months.
Between January and May of last year, Kim vanished from public view. According to his state television, he returned 40 pounds lighter and appeared ’emaciated,’ generating suspicion over whether the weight drop was intentional or due to sickness.
However, these fresh photos of a chubby Kim debunk rumors that the strongman had had a gastric bypass treatment.
Kim’s weight skyrocketed to 300 pounds soon after he took power in 2013, following his father’s death, and is understood to have been fueled in part by his fondness for Swiss cheese, which he developed while attending school in Switzerland.
The 5ft 7in dictator is morbidly obese, raising worries about diseases including heart disease, secondary diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
In addition, his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, and his father, Kim Jong Il, also died of heart attacks. The dictator’s health is always kept a carefully guarded state secret.
The impoverished country has been struck by severe floods in recent years, displacing families, and is presently dealing with a food crisis as the country battles to feed itself in the face of the Covid-19 outbreak.
A North Korean citizen who understandably wished to remain anonymous said that urging them to suffer hardship till 2025 is the same as telling them to starve to death.
According to a second source, the North Korean authorities seek to portray the food shortages as the outcome of its successful Covid-19 policy.
However, the administration has also blamed external forces for the country’s food shortages, citing sanctions, natural catastrophes, and the worldwide coronavirus epidemic.
Kim Jong Un’s apparent weight reduction has been attributed to his wish to eat less to help the country amid food shortages. The North Korean authorities barred civilians from discussing it in August, calling chatter a reactionary act.
According to analysts, officials were attempting to utilize Kim’s weight fluctuation to bolster support for the government during a time of crisis.
