On Tuesday’s podcast of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan spoke with fellow comedian Tom Segura about Segura’s forthcoming stand-up special on Netflix as well as some of the top news topics making the rounds on the internet.
According to a report, they discussed pride month and the Bud Light boycott that ensued when the company partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Pride parades were brought up, and Rogan said that the LGBTQ+ group now owns the word “pride.”
Rogan has noted that the fact that the word “pride” conjures images of homosexual people is strange.
Segura told him that pride meant “gay,” and Rogan wondered how they managed to do that.
Rogan mentioned that Cain Velasquez, a former UFC wrestler, has the words “Brown Pride” tattooed across his chest. What is he trying to say? Rogan said it used to be you were proud of who you were. Now it means “gay.” Segura commented that it certainly denotes a gay person.
Rogan said that they gradually took over pride, just like they hijacked the rainbow.
According to a report, it’s no longer enough to agree that gays have the freedom to live their lives as they see fit, without persecution or hostility of any kind. You must now confirm their identification and applaud their lifestyle choices. Now it is those who criticize the LGBT community that face persecution.
However, there are arguments in favor of not adhering to the Pride movement’s orthodoxy and refusing to genuflect beneath rainbow flags. Its message is that you should value yourself more for who you are than for what you have accomplished.
The article suggests that as a metaphor, it is jubilation over something as banal as one’s sleeping partner. It’s a call to narcissism and weakens the bonds of friendship and community. The whole concept of pride is antisocial.
