(FreedomBeacon.com)- A man who is suspected of killing his wife by strangling her in Texas last year has reportedly been found dead in a property in Florida.
NBC News reports that law enforcement officials confirmed the death of Tom Sharkey and that he appears to have committed suicide on Wednesday.
Officers believe that Sharkey took his life after finding out that marshals had paid a visit to the Fort Myers property where he was staying with friends, realizing that they were preparing to arrest him. And sure enough, he was right.
A warrant was issued for Sharkey’s arrest on September 29, but the news of the warrant was only revealed on Wednesday after he was discovered dead in the home.
Alexis Sharkey was Tom Sharkey’s wife. Her death made the headlines last year after the 26-year-old Instagram star was discovered at the side of a road 17 miles away from the city of Houston.
A post-mortem revealed that she had been killed by strangulation, but there was little evidence in the way of who committed the crime.
At the time, she had only just moved to Houston in January of last year after marrying her husband. She was a popular social media star with some 87,000 followers on her Instagram account.
In the process of investigating her murder, officers learned that Sharkey had a history of domestic violence and that before she died the pair were in the process of a divorce.
While Alexis had not filed any charges against her husband, reports suggest that Tom Sharkey was trying to make amends with her after admitting to family members that he had abused her.
