(FreedomBeacon.com)- Failed presidential candidate and former First Lady Hillary Clinton called on Democrats in Congress to push ahead with a dangerous new piece of legislation that would transform American elections and make controversial temporary measures used in the 2020 election permanent.
On Thursday, Clinton said that the United States gas a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to pass the H.3.1. legislation that was passed in the House on Wednesday night.
“My friend John Lewis said, ‘The vote is precious. It is almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have in a democratic society,’” she said.

We now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect it.

Clinton added that the Senate “must pass the For The People Act.”
But the act strips away the sacredness of the vote, makes it easier for people to cheat, and opens up the electoral process to misconduct and fraud that was seen in the controversial 2020 race. Measures like mass mail-in voting, with ballots being sent unsolicited to voters who may no longer even live in the state, would be made permanent under the rules. Or, more specifically, states would be punished if they do not make the rules permanent.
Voter ID laws would also be transformed, with no voter being required to prove their identity before casting a vote.
20 state attorneys general published a leader to Senate and House Leadership over the proposed bill, citing the U.S. Constitution’s Article I Elections Clause and Article II Electors Clause, which give the states the “primary role in conducting federal elections for house and Senate, and an even bigger role in presidential elections.”
The letter said that the bill could “invert that constitutional structure, commandeer state resources, confuse and muddle elections procedures, and erode faith in our elections and systems of governance.”
“Despite recent calls for political unity, the Act takes a one-sided approach to governing and usurps states’ authority over elections,” the latter added.
For as long as Democrats benefit from misconduct, fraud, and illegal aliens casting votes, the H.R.1. legislation would allow the party to win federal elections more easily, and potentially create a one-party rule for years or even decades to come.
