With early voting set to begin in Georgia, the Harris campaign deployed a familiar face to rural areas: former President Bill Clinton. Clinton, wearing a Harris-Walz camouflage cap, spoke to a modest audience at a “Get Out The Vote Fish Fry” in Fort Valley, Georgia, on Sunday.
In his speech, Clinton reminded attendees of their previous success in electing President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Georgia Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. He urged them to do the same again, warning that failing to do so could lead to lasting regret. The former president’s remarks came as he crisscrossed rural Georgia, a crucial battleground state, ahead of early voting on Tuesday.
Clinton’s appearance in Peach County highlighted the campaign’s focus on engaging smaller communities where elections are often decided by narrow margins. His approach was marked by familiarity and nostalgia, reflecting on his decades-long relationships in Georgia and recalling past campaigns. Clinton even lightened the mood by joking about Republicans’ uphill battle, particularly former President Donald Trump, saying, “It won’t hurt Mr. Trump to climb a few more hills.”
The Harris campaign is looking to secure every possible vote in Georgia, a state that could be pivotal in the upcoming election.
But it didn’t work out quite like she thought it would. A video of Clinton out stumping for Harris has been widely shared online this week, in which the former president is heard blaming the Biden-Harris administration for not properly vetting illegal aliens.
He even appeared to, indirectly, blame Harris for the death of Laken Riley, who was murdered by an illegal alien.
