Democrat Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign lashed out at GOP nominee Donald Trump this week, heavily criticizing him for the demeanor he displayed during an interview with the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg.
In a press release, Harris’ campaign wrote of the Tuesday interview Trump gave:
“As Donald Trump faces scrutiny for his unstable behavior and refusal to release medical records, Trump was angry and unfocused as he rambled on and on in an interview with Bloomberg at the Economic Club of Chicago.
“The moderator had to press Trump multiple times to focus and stay on topic. Trump instead became agitated and lashed out advocating for a series of extreme, unpopular and damaging positions.”
While the Harris campaign chimed in from the sidelines, Bloomberg also made sure to note that Harris declined to give them an interview about the state of the U.S. economy and her positions on it going forward.
Instead, Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, harped on the sore spots that they said Trump exhibited during his own appearance.
They highlighted the stance he took about the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021, as well as the fact that his campaign is supporting increasing the sales tax and Trump’s own criticism of the Federal Reserve Bank cutting interest rates recently.
During that interview, John Micklethwait of Bloomberg referenced a report in The Wall Street Journal that alleged Trump’s policies would increase the national debt to about $7 trillion. Trump didn’t address the topic directly, instead discrediting the paper and Micklethwait.
As Trump said in response:
“What does The Wall Street Journal know? They’ve been wrong about everything, and so have you, by the way. You’ve been wrong. You’ve been wrong all your life on this stuff.”
Harris’ campaign release said that Trump was “unstable,” further criticizing him for not yet releasing his medical records to the public. While not quite coming out and saying it, the Harris campaign appeared to be alluding to the possibility that Trump hasn’t passed cognitive tests or that he is mentally unfit to serve as president again — something Trump himself repeatedly said about the former Democratic nominee, President Joe Biden.
The White House released Harris’ medical records over the weekend.
As Joe Costello, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, said in the release:
“In a single 64-minute interview, Donald Trump showed exactly why Americans can’t afford a second Trump presidency. An angry, rambling Trump couldn’t focus, had to be repeatedly reminded of the topic at hand, and whenever he did stake out a position, it was so extreme that no Americans would want it.”
The Trump campaign responded with a statement of their own, criticizing the work that Harris and Walz do every day, and calling them “unstable.” In a statement, Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, said:
“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are stupid, moronic, unstable and lack the qualities to lead this country. Americans see it every single day when they beclown themselves and embarrass the nation.”
