The official X Governor and Facebook pages of South Dakota’s Republican governor, Kristi Noem, were recently removed.
Many X users have observed that Noem’s account, @GovKristiNoem, was removed and is now inaccessible. When users try to access her account, they are met with an empty screen that states that the account doesn’t exist. When people visit her official governor page on Facebook, a warning states that the content isn’t available.
X user @BehizyTweets reported the sudden deletion of the South Dakota Governor’s social media accounts. He said that both her official Facebook profile and the official governor profile on X had vanished. He questioned if Noem was resigning or if something else was going on.
As of this writing, Governor Noem’s YouTube account is still active.
Some of South Dakota’s official social media profiles seemed to have been removed, which raised further doubts about the Republican Governor, who has been embroiled in controversy after explaining how she opted to shoot her uncontrollable puppy and her annoying goat.
An error notice stating that the content wasn’t available appeared on Facebook while attempting to access Noem’s official website on July 8th. In most cases, it can be because the owner has removed it from public view, restricted access, or shared it with only a select few.
Close to half a million people followed Noem’s previous account until last month, when a new X account, @GovNoemOffice, was created. The new account has under 400 followers. Despite the inexplicable disappearance of her official sites, Noem’s personal X account remains live.
Noem’s spokesman, Ian Fury, was asked by media outlets to explain the disappearance of Noem’s social media accounts, but he has not answered.
Noem was reportedly considered by many earlier this year as one of many possible vice presidential candidates for Donald Trump on the Republican ticket.
