Furious Man Chases Daughter’s Teenager Boyfriend With Gun, Gets Arrested

A Brazilian businessman has been arrested after threatening a 16-year-old boy over his relationship with the man’s 15-year-old daughter. The confrontation, which escalated into a dangerous chase, was captured on surveillance footage.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in Vianópolis, a town in central Brazil, where the 39-year-old father confronted the teenage boy at the cell phone store where he worked. In the video, the businessman is seen arguing with the boy, eventually pushing a display case toward him. The frightened teen quickly fled the store.

The father pursued the boy down the street, crossing to the opposite side and chasing him for several blocks. Security cameras recorded the father pulling out a gun and firing a shot into the air in an attempt to intimidate the teen.

Despite firing the weapon, the businessman fled the scene. Later that afternoon, he was apprehended by Goias Military Police approximately 49 miles away in the town of Anapólis. He initially defied police orders to pull over, but when authorities stopped his vehicle, he presented an air gun, falsely claiming that he had purchased it after the shooting. However, police found a hidden .22 caliber revolver, the weapon he had used during the chase.

At the local Goias Civil Police station, the father explained that he was only trying to scare the teen after discovering conversations between him and his daughter on her cell phone. He was taken into custody, and charges are pending.

This incident is eerily similar to a 2018 case in which 38-year-old Cleber Pires shot and killed a 19-year-old boy in Goiânia. Pires had invited his daughter’s boyfriend to his home for what he described as a “manly conversation,” but the encounter ended in violence. Pires claimed the teen pulled a knife on him, leading to the fatal shooting.

Both cases highlight the extreme reactions of some parents in Brazil when it comes to controlling their children’s relationships, raising serious concerns about the consequences of such confrontations.
