(FreedomBeacon.com)- Earlier this month, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced that she’ll be ready to step down from her post by next year. Well, Peter Doocy may have just moved up the timeline.
Last Thursday, the CDC announced that vaccinated people do not have to wear masks in most situations, inside or outside.
That announcement took almost everyone by surprise—including, it seems, the CDC Director, who only a few hours before went on CNN to say that the science wasn’t there yet.
That prompted Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy to ask Psaki in the next day’s briefing if that CDC decision was really based on “the science,” or if it was a political calculation.
Psaki deflected saying that CDC Director Dr. Walensky “did an extensive number of interviews” leading up to the change in policy. Sure.
Doocy pressed her: “What happened to President Biden saying in March that he thought lifting mask mandates before every adult American goes and gets a shot is ‘neanderthal thinking’?”
Of course, Psaki had no real answer to that, other than to parrot a familiar line about “our north star has been listening to the guidance of our health and medical experts and teams and that’s exactly what we’re doing in this case.”
Peter Doocy just wrecked the Biden administration over the sudden decision to allow vaccinated people to no longer mask or social distance after months of saying it was dangerous.
He even pointed out Biden called doing it before all were vaccinated was "neanderthal thinking." pic.twitter.com/Adr3BiVQxY

President Biden made the “neanderthal” remark referencing the decisions of Republican governors in Texas and Mississippi to lift mandates and restrictions in their states earlier this spring.
Even after that awkward moment, Doocy wasn’t done with Psaki. Doocy revealed that the White House heard about the impending CDC announcement at 9pm the night prior, and pointed out that at 9:25, Dr. Walensky was on CNN saying the “science wasn’t there yet.” So, how did the White House know before the CDC if this was all about the science?
Doocy closed by calling out the Biden CDC director Dr. Walkensky for going on TV the night before the announcement about vaccinated people no longer needing to mask or social distance and sayingg the science wasn't there yet to allow for such a move.

Psaki pled ignorance to that apparent contradiction of the timeline and replied that she hadn’t seen the interview.
So, unless the Biden administration has built out an entire in-house epidemiology department, it’s safe to say the snap decision was a little more political and a little less science-based than Psaki is letting on.
Psaki may have said she’s leaving next year, but if this keeps up, early retirement may be in the cards.
