FDA Issues Recall of Ice Cream After ‘Foreign Objects’ Discovered

In the modern sense, people are living longer than ever before. The wonders of modern medicine and technology at large mean that mankind is now living a more pampered anf comfortable existence than ever before in human history. Regardless, people are still struggling and many deal with the reality that the world is still full of health risks. Life is truly precious, and sometimes the most tragic deaths are reminders that nothing in the world is finite. Even people who appear to be healthy and committed to taking care of themselves sometimes experience tragic ends, and in the modern world, in many instances’ products deemed “healthy” are revealed to have negative side effects. In a recent report, 5 people perished after taking cholesterol lowering supplements contaminated with red mold. 

In another recent report, hand sanitizer has been recalled due to toxicity. The Aruba Aloe Hand Sanitor Gel has been found to contain methanol, a dangerous chemical that is poisonous if ingested and may cause cancer. The product had been on sale for over three years before the discovery was made by the Food and Drug Administration. Americans are increasingly consuming questionable substances in food and products.In another food related incident, Byrne Dairy of New York had to recall chocolate ice cream cartons because peanuts may have been undeclared and contained within them. A professional New York City dancer perished from accidental peanut consumption.

Another ice cream company, the Utah-based Caspers Ice Cream was voluntarily recalled products after discovering that some ice cream contained pieces of rubber in storage tubs. The FDA classified the recall as a level two risk, and this first began on the 6th of June. Cookie dough ice cream was recalled specifically. Fortunately, the cluster (manufacture) grouping of the cookie dough products at risk was only distributed in eight states. These states were: Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Nevada, and Utah. The situation is worrisome.
