(FreedomBeacon.com)- Igor Danchenko, the author of the most lurid allegations in the fake “Steele dossier,” was paid by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a “confidential human source” (CHS) at the time that President Donald Trump was being investigated.
Danchenko was the source for former British spy Christopher Steele in the creation of the “dossier,” which included the allegation that there was a so-called “pee tape” of Trump cavorting with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel and asking them to urinate on a bed on which then-President Barack Obama had slept. According to a document that Special Counsel John Durham unsealed on Tuesday in his prosecution of Danchenko for lying to the FBI.
Many well-known Democrats supported the claims and declared that a “pee tape” exists, including Daniel S. Goldman, a 2019–20 impeachment counsel and current congressional candidate.
Durham asserts that the FBI’s “Operation Crossfire Hurricane,” which looked into Trump’s alleged “collusion” with Russia, named Danchenko as a CHS. Throughout the pointless investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, he remained a CHS.
Danchenko may have been hired as a paid CHS to prevent him from disclosing that the FBI (and Mueller) knew the information in the “dossier” was false, even as the FBI used it to obtain electronic surveillance warrants on Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page, who had done nothing wrong, according to one observer who wrote at the “technology” blog on Substack.
With Fiona Hill, a national security expert who was eventually called as a witness against Trump in the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment investigation, Danchenko had previously served as a Russia analyst at the liberal Brookings Institution.
Durham charges Danchenko with lying to the FBI to defend Charles Dolan Jr., a communications expert with connections to the Clintons. Danchenko is also being accused of lying to the FBI concerning correspondence with Sergei Millian, the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce’s then-president, whose purported testimony prompted the FBI to request a warrant for Carter Page’s monitoring. Dolan is anticipated to testify against Danchenko in Durham’s case.
