The Las Vegas community is in shock following the revelation that a G League basketball player has been apprehended in connection with the abduction of a 23-year-old woman. Chance Comanche, a 27-year-old center playing for the Stockton Kings, the G League affiliate of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, was arrested by an FBI apprehension team on Friday.
While visiting friends in Las Vegas, Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington, was reported missing on December 6. It is mentioned that Comanche was in Henderson, Nevada, the night preceding Rodgers’s disappearance and played in a G League game against the developmental team, the G League Ignite. Despite Henderson being only 15 miles from Las Vegas, the exact duration of Comanche’s stay in Sin City remains unclear.
This arrest marks the second suspect taken into custody concerning Rodgers’ disappearance. Sakari Harnden, a 19-year-old, is also facing a first-degree kidnapping charge. Witnesses reported seeing Rodgers getting into a car with Harnden shortly before she vanished. A criminal complaint against Harnden alleges that she held Rodgers against her will and without her consent, with the intent to cause harm.
In a separate case, Harnden is also facing a theft charge in Las Vegas Justice Court for allegedly stealing at least one Rolex watch. Judge Diana Sullivan set her bail at $500,000 on December 14.
As for Comanche, he was released by the Stockton Kings following his arrest. Both the Kings and the NBA have yet to comment on the situation.
