(FreedomBeacon.com)- If you thought Facebook already had too much control of your life, then get this: Mark Zuckerberg is planning on turning his social media platform into a “metaverse” where people can meet up in a virtual world from the comfort of their own home.
Zuckerberg revealed his ambitious plans during an interview last Thursday, describing how over the next five years, he would like Facebook to expand from its traditional social media offerings and become a virtual environment where people can both work and play for 24 hours a day without leaving their home.
Are we inching closer to a virtual world where nobody needs physical interaction?
Speaking to left-wing tech news website The Verge, Zuckerberg said that it’s his hope that, if his company handles it well, they will “effectively transition from people seeing us primarily being a social media company to being a metaverse company.”
Imagine it…Zuckerberg won’t just be able to censor your Facebook posts but your conversations with your boss, friends, and colleagues, too!
Zuckerberg told The Verge that all of the work they are doing across various apps used on peoples’ phones will “contribute directly” to their vision and that his company is “working a ton” on realizing their vision for the next chapter of their business.
He went on to describe the “metaverse” as an idea that spans the whole tech industry, suggesting that it will replace the mobile Internet. He called it an “embodied Internet” where users don’t just see content but experience it. He described how users will feel present with other people as if they were in a different place, which is something traditional webpages and two-dimensional apps cannot achieve.
Is this a future you want?
