Democrats Worry That Calling Giuliani “Drunk” Will Make Him Less Of A Boogyman

(FreedomBeacon.com)- On election night in 2020, there have been rumors on Capitol Hill that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was intoxicated and pressured then-President Donald Trump to announce that he defeated President Joe Biden.

A historian has advised against using intoxication as a justification for contesting the election results, despite Giuliani’s administration refuting claims that he was snockered that evening.

According to Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University and an authority on fascism, accusing the Trump lawyer of being intoxicated might reinforce the impression that these were not serious individuals and we have “nothing to worry about.”

Her comments were made while the House Select Committee’s hearings into the Capitol attack on January 6 were broadcast. The committee summoned the former mayor because of his claims of electoral fraud. He was questioned for more than nine hours.

The committee co-chair, Rep. Liz Cheney, said in her opening statement that testimony would show how Trump rejected the advice of his campaign experts on election night and followed the course recommended by an inebriated Rudy Giuliani. The ex-Mayor of New York purportedly advised Trump just to claim he won and insist that the vote-counting stop.

The former mayor was clearly intoxicated, but “I do not know his level of intoxication when he spoke with the president,” said Jason Miller, a former aide to Donald Trump, in a videotaped deposition.’

Miller said that Mayor Giuliani was essentially declaring that Trump won and that they were stealing it from him. Therefore Trump must claim victory.

The former mayor was reportedly sipping Diet Coke, according to Giuliani’s office.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, a committee member, told CNN’s Erin Burnett that he “truly can’t tell the difference” between Giuliani when he is sober and when he is intoxicated.

Raskin said it doesn’t matter because what he was spouting was utter garbage, as Attorney General Barr testified and many witnesses corroborated.

According to Ben-Ghiat, autocrats and “people like Trump” surround themselves with stupid individuals because they are scared by competent people and require lackeys around them.

In a reversal, the Biden administration may have somewhat competent people surrounding an astonishingly dumb President.
