(FreedomBeacon.com)- U.S. President Joe Biden is traveling this week to raise more money for Democrats before the Nov. 8 legislative elections. He is scheduled to attend an event in New York City at the residence of James Murdoch, the publisher Rupert Murdoch’s son.
In the weeks up to the midterm elections, Biden has been raising money prodigiously as he seeks to aid Democrats in fending off a fierce Republican campaign for control of the U.S. Congress.
According to individuals familiar with the plans, Biden will attend an event at the residence of Democratic Governors Association head Phil Murphy of New Jersey on Thursday before traveling to New York for a fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee at James Murdoch’s residence.
Murdoch and his wife, climate change activist Kathryn, gave a lot of money to Biden’s 2020 campaign for president. Murdoch left the board of News Corp (NWSA.O) in 2020, citing differences over editorial content at the business established by his father, an influential conservative media figure.
According to party officials, Biden has recently raised millions of dollars for Democratic candidates, helping the party set a record for fundraising during a midterm election year.
He has delivered speeches in various settings, such as a tent behind a home in Bethesda, Maryland, and the Manhattan living room of mathematician Henry Laufer, where attendees sat listening to Biden in their socks to prevent damaging the carpet.
Even while his job approval ratings are low, Biden continues to be a strong draw for wealthy Democrats and has increased fund-raising activities. The gatherings also seek to persuade wealthy Democrats that, despite his advanced age, Biden, 79, is the ideal candidate for a 2024 presidential run.
Although it is still unclear whether Biden would compete for re-election in 2024, the Rev. Al Sharpton, a supporter of Biden, recently told staff members of his National Action Network that Biden had confirmed his intention.
According to NBC News, Biden assured Sharpton, “I’m going to do it again.”
According to a DNC spokesman, the DNC has raised $271 million, a record for the midterms, during the current election cycle with Biden’s help, and more than $107 million thus far this year, “the highest at this stage in any year.”
