The adventures of pop culture phenomenon “Florida Man” continue. In the latest installment, a Florida man wrote of his desire to kill Joe Biden on July 11, a mere two days before an assassin made an attempt on the life of Donald Trump at a western Pennsylvania rally.
The Florida Man in question is Jason Patrick Alday, aged 39. He’s been a subject of interest for the Secret Service since late June of this year, when, upon admittance to a mental health facility, he told an intake officer that he intended to slit the throat of President Joe Biden.
The intake officer reported this interaction, and Alday was subsequently questioned by Secret Service agents, who were unable to get Alday to admit to having threatened the President.
Then, on the 30th of June, Alday posted a note to the X social media platform noting that Biden’s health was declining, and asking his followers if he should finish Biden off. It was one of four relevant posts allegedly published by Alday under the username @Jman86628004.
He also allegedly posted a note saying “I’ll kill Joe Biden today!!” and authored a series of racists tweets to taunt the Secret Service agent who had come to question him. This series was only part of a larger trend of posting bigoted tweets directed at the Secret Service agent and spicing his timeline with graphic threats to murder the sitting President.
All of this information can be found in court documents, which were filed to establish probable cause and lay the foundation for criminal charges.
On Monday, July 15, Alday was placed under arrest by a task force including the Secret Service’s investigating agent and the U.S. Marshals Service. He is now facing charges in Federal Court of making threats against the President, sending threatening communications, and making threats against federal officials.
At this time, he remains under detention following his initial appearance before the federal bench.
