(FreedomBeacon.com)- Leon Harris, formerly a news anchor on far-left “news” network CNN, was reportedly arrested on the last weekend of January for allegedly crashing his vehicle while intoxicated. Reports suggest that he attempted to leave the scene after the crash.
WRC, the network where Harris works, reported that he was driving in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Saturday evening when he hit the back of another vehicle. The car in front him then hit another car and the drivers called the police. When officers arrived, Harris reportedly attempted to leave the scene of the crash but was detained by officers.
Officers then performed a sobriety test, which Harris reportedly failed, and police officers soon determined that his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. He was arrested on nine misdemeanor charges which include DUI, DWI, and attempting to elude the police.
Thankfully there were no serious injuries.
WRC confirmed that as investigations continue Harris will be off the air.
If you thought that the name Leon Harris didn’t ring a bell, then you might just be a little too young to remember him. Harris worked at CNN from the early 1980s until the early 2000s. At that time, CNN was a very different network. While the network has always somewhat leaned Democrat, only in recent years has it become a virulently hard-left propaganda network that spreads conspiracy theories about Republicans.
He was famously on the air on the morning of the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and covered the events as the tragedy unfolded that day.
This month, Harris announced that he has “decided to take some time away” following the incident.
“I am thankful to everyone for their support and understanding,” Harris said in a statement. “I’m sorry to those I have hurt or let down. I hope to return as a healthier person.”
