(FreedomBeacon.com)- An attorney who frequently appears on CNN took to Twitter last week and demanded that the Canadian government crack down on the truckers blockading the Ambassador Bridge connecting the US and Canada.
In a tweet on Thursday, Juliette Kayyem, a “national security analyst” for CNN, claimed the blockade was an “economic and security issue” and demanded that Canadian authorities “slash the tires, empty gas takes, arrest the drivers, and move the trucks.”
Kayyem, who used to be a former assistant secretary in President Obama’s Department of Homeland Security, was immediately met with pushback from Twitter users who noted how easily Leftists embrace tyranny to put down peaceful protests.
But rather than walk back her position, Juliette Kayyem doubled down. She tweeted that she won’t run out of ways “to make this hurt.” She wanted the truckers’ insurance canceled, their driver’s licenses suspended, and suggested they be barred from ever driving a truck to earn a living.
All for protesting against the Trudeau government.
When the pushback against her tyrannical fantasies reached a fever pitch, Kayyem returned to Twitter to claim that her words were being misconstrued.
She accused others of suggesting she was promoting vigilantism, which she denied. She offered the obligatory “people have the freedom to protest,” then added a big but: “Governments have the responsibility to protect public safety.”
Funny how Kayyem believes ruining the lives and livelihoods of people who are free to protest constitutes protecting public safety.
In his Tuesday night opening monologue on Justin Trudeau invoking the Emergencies Act to crack down on the protesting Canadian truckers, Fox News host Tucker Carlson brought up Julie Kayyem’s tweets when discussing how people in the corporate news media both in Canada and here in the United States are siding with tyranny over freedom.
