Years of Alleged Fraud Uncovered
The Detroit suburb of Hamtramck has become ground zero for election integrity concerns after its city clerk revealed extensive voter fraud operations. Hamtramck City Clerk Rana Faraj has alleged that ballot trafficking has been occurring “for years,” potentially affecting “hundreds of ballots” in local elections.
Despite reaching out to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel for help, Faraj claims her concerns have fallen on deaf ears. The situation grew more suspicious when Nessel was spotted meeting with Hamtramck Councilman Mohammed Hassan, who stands accused of election fraud himself.
And these allegations aren’t surprising, either. They go back more than ten years:
Democratic AG’s Troubling Connection
The involvement of Michigan’s Democratic Attorney General has raised serious questions about political interference in election integrity investigations. Instead of addressing the clerk’s concerns, Nessel appears to have met with one of the very officials accused of perpetrating fraud.
“That’s the only thing I can do, since there’s nobody else that helps me put a stop to them breaking the law,” Faraj stated regarding her decision to speak out publicly. The clerk’s frustration highlights the apparent unwillingness of Democratic officials to investigate election integrity issues.
“Harvesting ballots and dumping dozens, I want to say hundreds, of ballots at once into drop boxes — all in the same direction, all ‘glue-sticked’ the same way — it was obvious that it was all done by an individual or a group of people,” Faraj added.
These allegations describe ballot harvesting practices that are explicitly illegal under Michigan law.
History of Election Problems
Hamtramck’s election issues extend back nearly a decade, with four local men pleading guilty to charges related to absentee ballot handling in 2014. The city, which became America’s only Muslim-majority city with an all-Muslim government elected in 2021, has faced ongoing scrutiny over its electoral practices.
Project Veritas previously captured Hassan on video allegedly agreeing to accept blank ballots, providing compelling evidence of potential wrongdoing. Surveillance footage has reportedly documented instances of ballot trafficking, supporting Faraj’s claims about systematic electoral manipulation.
Former City Clerk August Gitschlag had previously alleged voter intimidation and illegal ballot trafficking by city officials. The current investigations involve charges against two city councilmen and another individual related to impersonating voters and absentee ballot tampering.
Faraj continues to urge action to ensure fair and transparent elections in Hamtramck. Without intervention from state authorities, local officials fighting for election integrity appear to be left battling powerful political forces alone.
