(FreedomBeacon.com)- NBC’s Chuck Todd appeared shocked to find out that Congressional Republicans are considering impeaching President Joe Biden during an interview with Congresswoman Nancy Mace, according to Mediaite. Mace said that Republicans were prepared to impeach Biden if they take back Congress during Todd’s segment of Meet The Press.
When talking about House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) “Commitment to America,” a Republican agenda should they win the midterm elections and take back the House, Todd asked Mace, if she expects an impeachment vote against Biden.
“I believe there’s a lot of pressure on Republicans to have that vote,” Mace said. “To put that legislation forward and to have that vote. I think that is something that some folks are considering.”
Todd delivered a resounding “Wow!” as Mace cited fraud, abuse of Covid-19 funding, other matters that Mediaite reports are irrelevant to impeachment. Todd then asked how she would vote if impeachment came up.
“I didn’t vote to impeach the former President of the United States, because I felt like due process was stripped away,” she responded. “I will not vote for impeachment of any president if I feel that due process was stripped away for anyone. I typically vote constitutionally, regardless of who’s in power. I want to do the right thing for the long term because this isn’t just about today…This is about the future of democracy.”
Todd then brought up whether it is a good strategy for Republcans to push for impeachment given their criticisms of the Democrats constantly seeking to impeach Trump.
Trump was impeached twice, once in 2020 for an alleged quid pro quo in Ukraine and then in 2021 for the Capitol riots. He was investigated for the majority of his term as Democrats sought to find anything they could use against him for impeachment or to press charges once he left office.
“If that happens,” Mace said, “I do believe it’s divisive, which is why I push back on it personally when I hear folks saying they’re going to file articles of impeachment in the House. I push back against those comments because we need to be working together.”
It may be possible that McCarthy will incorporate Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s latest articles of impeachment into his agenda.
