Murder-for-Hire Plot Unfolds in Angola
Jackie Shroyer, a mother of five from Minnesota, has been formally charged as the “mastermind” in the murder of her husband Beau while the family was serving as Christian missionaries in Angola, Africa. The couple had been deployed to the African nation in 2021 by SIM USA, a Christian mission organization. Authorities have arrested two Angolan men in connection with the killing, while a third suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.
Angolan law enforcement officials have described Jackie Shroyer as the “mastermind” behind the plot, alleging she orchestrated her husband’s killing with the help of local accomplices. According to investigators, Beau was killed in a carefully staged attack that involved a fake vehicle breakdown and the use of a knife. The murder has sent shockwaves through the missionary community and the couple’s home church in Minnesota.
Authorities suspect a romantic relationship between Jackie and one of her alleged accomplices motivated the crime. Investigations revealed that Bernardino Elias and Isalino Kayôo were arrested for their involvement in the murder, while a third suspect, Gelson Ramos, is currently “on the run” according to Angolan law enforcement. Court documents indicate that Elias reportedly offered Kayoo $50,000 to carry out the murder of Beau Shroyer.
“It saddens me immensely to have to share with you that we were notified that Jackie has been formally charged as a co-author in the murder of her husband,” Troy M. Eason, Lead Pastor at Lakes Area Vineyard Church, told his congregation.
Reports indicate that Jackie allegedly did not want to leave Angola after the mission’s scheduled end, contrary to her husband’s wishes to return to the United States. This disagreement, combined with the alleged extramarital relationship, apparently led to the sinister plot that claimed Beau’s life in a remote area of the African nation.
Children’s Welfare and Church Response
The five Shroyer children have been returned to the United States and are now living with family members. According to church officials, the children are being home-schooled and are gradually adjusting to their new circumstances while processing the loss of their father and the allegations against their mother. The children reportedly maintain weekly contact with Jackie, who remains in Angolan custody.
SIM USA, the missionary organization that deployed the Shroyer family, is providing support for Jackie’s legal team and assistance for the children. The organization has requested continued prayers and declined further comment out of respect for the judicial process. A funeral service for Beau Shroyer, described by friends as “a selfless human” who was dedicated to helping others, was held on November 30.
Jackie is scheduled to face trial in Angola within six months, with both the FBI and State Department aware of the case.
