China “Edits” Classic Movie So It Looks Like China Comes Out Victorious

(FreedomBeacon.com)- By now, you’re presumably aware of the extent that the Chinese Communist Party will go to defend its authoritarian system of government – but did you expect them to edit the ends of American movies to make the authorities come out on top?

Cult classic “Fight Club” from 1999 has reportedly been edited for a Chinese audience, with the movie ending now seeing criminals arrested and the authorities on top.

If you’ve seen the original film, you’ll know that the narrator kills off his alter ego Tyler Durden, played by Brad Pitt. It results in a chain of explosions designed to destroy all bank accounts and credit records, ending consumerism and effectively starting the economy all over again.

But if you watch the Chinese version of the film, aired on the Tencent Video streaming service, the movie is cut short and the explosion scene doesn’t occur. A caption is then added to the end of the movie, explaining how Project Mayhem was foiled by the authorities and everybody involved was arrested and sent to prison.

Translated into English, the caption reads:

“Through the clue provided by Tyler, the police quickly figured out the whole plan and arrested all criminals, successfully preventing the bomb from exploding. After the trial, Tyler was sent to lunatic asylum receiving psychological treatment. He was discharged from the hospital in 2012.”

Here’s how it looks:

It begs the question…do the Chinese people know that the Chinese government is doing this? And if so, do they support it?

It remains unclear whether the decision to edit the film was ordered by the Chinese Communist Party, and Tencent Video has not responded to requests for comment on how the movie came to be edited.
