Chik-Fil-A Accused Of Going Woke

Chik-Fil-A is being accused of going “woke” after the company announced it will start implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies, according to National File. The news does not come as a surprise to many after former CEO Dan Cathy called for white people to feel shame about racism in the U.S. and claimed that he gave his employees brushes to shine black people’s shoes.

The fast-food chain was once criticized for donating nearly $2 million to antigay groups at a time when the marriage debate was sparking heated discussions. Media outlets subsequently called the corporation “antigay,” and it did not help that the company said that it closed on Sundays as a way to honor God, according to Yahoo.

But the new DEI policy has many calling for a boycott of the restaurant. Its code reportedly reads similar to Hillary Clinton’s slogan “Better Together” as it reinforces its commitment to being “Better at Together” and “embedding Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in everything we do.”

The company pledges to reportedly hire based on race and one’s gender and partnered with the Women’s Foodservice Forum, National Black MBA Association, and Association of Latino Professionals of America to fulfill that goal. Erick McReynolds, the company’s vice president of DEI, stated that they are committed to mutual respect and dignity.

The corporate purpose of Chik-Fil-A is to allegedly “glorify God,” which now includes recognizing race and gender as central components to respect and dignity. But this is not news to The Christian Post, an outlet arguing that this is not a new trend with the company. Despite its sales doubling after weathering a fierce leftist backlash over its former social stances, the chain reportedly capitulated in 2019 when it announced that it will stop donating to the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes because of their positions on gay marriage.
