Charges Dropped For Stephen Colbert For Illegally Entering Capitol

(FreedomBeacon.com)- According to Capitol Police, the same U.S. Attorney’s office that has prosecuted numerous Jan. 6 protesters for trespassing and other offenses has decided not to pursue charges against nine members of the production crew for TV ‘comedian’ Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show for unauthorized entry into a congressional office building.
Nine “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” employees were detained and accused of breaking into House offices after hours. They were reportedly let in by Adam Schiff, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, then left without an escort to record a Triumph the Insult Comic skit outside Rep. Laurent Boebert’s and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s offices.

According to Fox’s Chad Pergram, the crew had interviews with Schiff and Auchincloss. They were then taken into custody while outside of Lauren Boebert’s office.

According to a news statement from the agency, The United States Capitol Police (USCP) has been collaborating with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia on the June 16, 2022, Unlawful Entry case that included a group of nine persons connected to The Late Show. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has just told the United States Capitol Police that they would not prosecute the case.
After the arrest of the Colbert group, Capitol Police released a statement saying the group had been instructed multiple times before they entered the Congressional buildings that they had to remain with a staff escort within the facilities, and they failed to do so.
While stating that they respected the office’s decision, Capitol Police also hinted at their displeasure by warning the media that the U.S. attorney would have to provide justification for the choice. It stated that any queries regarding that determination should be directed to the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia.
The actions of his employees who were arrested were downplayed by the hack comedian Colbert, who claimed they just committed “first-degree puppetry.”
