Celebrity YouTuber Claims He Can Run for Presidents, Gets Trolled

As America nears another Presidential election, it seems many up-and-coming politicians are coming out of the woodwork to try and make an attempt at becoming the next president of the United States. However, one recent celebrity who is attempting his bid for President is not so up-and-coming as most voters would assume. On July 6th, world-famous YouTube and social media influencer Mr. Beast announced that if the U.S. lowered the age requirement to run for President, then he would enter the current Presidential race.

Mr. Beast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is a renowned YouTube content creator with over 300 million subscribers. Mr. Beast’s videos are known for their oddball themes as well as a lot of the content being of philanthropy where Donaldson has often been seen giving money away to those less fortunate. Donaldson even held his own live version of the popular Netflix series Squid Game with a real cash reward.

On July 6th, Donaldson took to his X account, formerly known as Twitter to announce that if the age requirements to become president were lowered, Donaldson would “jump in the race”. The age requirement to become a U.S. President is 35 years old, whereas Donaldson is only 26. Donaldson’s online statement ignited some controversy from other fellow content creators and influencers, especially those with right-leaning political views. Fellow influencers replied to Donaldson with statements personally declining the YouTube star’s political idea.

More controversy followed after Donaldson engaged back with his audience with a statement that seemingly resembled centrist policy. Donaldson stated that he would not care about both parties and would solely focus on the American people as a whole. Donaldson’s backlash came from a predominantly liberal audience, who then began to bring up topics of universal healthcare and other important questions a president would have to answer. Donaldson then stated the discussion could begin when he is eligible to run for President.
