(FreedomBeacon.com)- Last Tuesday in a widely-condemned speech, President Joe Biden offered his support for Congressional Democrats’ extreme plan to end the Senate filibuster. Such a move would allow the Democrats to pass extreme legislation with the support of only 50% of the Senate – and with the Senate currently being split 50-50, and Vice President Kamala Harris casting the deciding vote, ending the Senate filibuster would give the Democrats total control over government…at least until this year’s midterm elections.
President Biden presented his speech as one that focused on “voting rights,” accusing Republicans of being on the side of George Wallace and Bull Connor, rather than John Lewis and Dr. King. The irony, of course, I that both Wallace and Connor were Democrats, and Republicans are the ones promoting Dr. King’s message of judging people based on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.
Biden said during his speech that if passing “voting rights” legislation that would remove voter ID requirements and make it easier for illegal aliens to vote wasn’t possible without ending the filibuster, then he supports Democrats ending the filibuster and getting on with it anyway.
It’s an idea so bad that Senate Democrats’ efforts to make such a change failed last week, and even a former senior adviser to President Barack Obama criticized the plan.
“I don’t think the president’s rhetoric in Atlanta was particularly useful,” David Axelrod told CNN on Thursday. “There are real issues here and they shouldn’t be obscured by hyperbolic rhetoric.”
Biden couldn’t even get so-called “voting rights” campaigner Stacey Abrams to turn out for the speech, in the state that made her famous, so what does that tell you?
