AOC Sends Letter Begging Chuck Schumer For Help

(FreedomBeacon.com)- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has issued a plea to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to clarify whether or not Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch lied under oath about their intentions to overturn Roe v. Wade during their confirmation hearings.

In a letter written to Schumer on Friday, Ocasio-Cortez and Representative Ted Lieu (Democrat of California) warned that the legitimacy of United States institutions is at risk and urged Schumer to take action.

On Twitter, where she also shared the letter, Ocasio-Cortez wrote that we could not allow it to go unanswered that Supreme Court nominees are lying to the Senate under oath.

AOC said that Senators from both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party have claimed that members of the Supreme Court have deceived them. This cannot be used as a model for future decisions. This would “erode the rule of law, delegitimize the court, and threaten democracy.”

It would appear that Ocasio-Cortez was alluding to Senators Joe Manchin (Democratic Party of West Virginia) and Susan Collins (Republican Party of Maine). They have stated that they believe the justices have deceived them.

In a statement released after the Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, Senator Collins said that this decision is inconsistent with what Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh noted in their testimony and their meetings with her, where they both were insistent on the importance of supporting long-standing precedents that the country has relied upon.

Manchin said he trusted Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh when they testified under oath that they also believed Roe v. Wade was a settled legal precedent. He is alarmed that they chose to reject the stability the ruling has provided for two generations of Americans.
AOC requested in her letter that the Senate make its stance clear on whether Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch misled under oath on the witness stand during their confirmation hearings.

She said that their activities must be called out for what they were as soon as possible to prevent a similar dishonest denigration of our fundamental rights and the rule of law from ever happening again.
